Seven years ago, the Minneapolis Foundation launched the Fund for Safe Communities with the goal of supporting tangible, specific actions to prevent violence and promote healing. Since then—with the support of generous people and businesses across our community—this fund has made more than $4 million in grants.

Giving Voice Initiative is an innovative organization that launches dementia-friendly choruses nationwide for people living with the diagnosis and their care partners. In addition to operating five choruses in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, Giving Voice inspires and supports the creation of choruses through specific training and resources to best meet the needs of every community.

When I first moved to Minnesota, I drove past this interesting music store. I always wanted to know what might be inside. Eventually, I stopped in and met the owner. This is the story of that record shop and the man behind it.

The MPS + St. Thomas Teacher Residency helps educators pursue master’s degrees and teaching licenses, with an emphasis on recruiting diverse and bilingual candidates. It creates a pathway to prepare highly effective and diverse special education and elementary teachers in Minneapolis Public Schools.
